        Chaska River City Days



      Thank you to all participants in the 2010 Chaska River City Days event. 

 We had great weather and huge attendance!  We are looking forward to next years events.                     
     
                     2011

The dates for 2011 has been set for July 23-31

Many events such as the Triathlon, Disc-Golf Tournament, Medallion Hunt, Volleyball Tournaments will begin on July 23, 2011.  Many events will be scheduled during the week leading to the Great Chaska Get-Together July 29-31 at City Square Park.


We are looking for volunteers to assist with planning of next's years events.  Please call Tim Sebenaler, Event Coordinator at 952-448-9908 if you can assist!

MN Valley Community Band concert-goers can expect to hear music of stage and screen, as well as the traditional favorites such as the "Stars and Stripes Forever".  Bring your favorite lawn chair or picnic blanket and enjoy Chaska's version of the "Boston Pops!"  Sponsored by the Chaska Park and Rec Dept.

Chaska Community Choir
- A perfect way to top off a great week-end of activities of River City Days.   Performing their annual concert at the Chaska High School auditorium. 

Chaska Middle School Jazz Ensemble, Garage Band, and Country/Bluegrass - come and listen to the Chaska Middle Scholl ensembles under the direction of Eric Songer and co-director Heidi Songer. This is their third performance at RCD.

Karaoke-Special Edition-RCD- So you think you can sing? Come to the RCD Info Booth to sign up. Performances at the Gazebo. Sponsored by Mike Tudor, Chaska Community Television and hosted by Starburst Entertainment.  Prize drawings for registered participants.  

Chaska Valley Family Theatre's New Production Workshop presents
      " Love on the Prairie" an original melodrama by Bob Thomas.
Preview Performances at Chaska Moravian Church, Saturday July 24 at 2:30 and
5:30 pm.  "Step into the past and become part of the old-fashioned interactive theatre form known as melodrama!  Applaud the strong and righteous hero in his endeavors to put a halt to the evil schemes of the dastardly villain!  Get swept away by the beautiful melodies sung by the virtuous heroine!"  Following the 2:30 performance CFT's Writer's Playground presents original works by local writers!  Join us for the 10 Minute Play Festival, immediately following the performance!

RCD Family Bike Ride and Picnic:  Sun. July 18.  Come join us for a summer bike ride or blade run on the trails of Chaska.  Hosted by the Sexual Violence Center, there will be useful information for parents, lots of fun for the kids- a great  late afternoon activity for the whole family to enjoy!

RCD- CO-ED 4'S 1st ANNUAL GRASS VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT  - Sunday, July 25.  9am - 5pm at Fireman's Park (NW corner of HWY 41 & Chaska Blvd.)  Cash prizes and T-shirts awarded.  Hosted by the Southwest Christian Volleyball Program.

Location:  Louisville Lanes (Sand Courts) at 3020 West 133rd St. Shakopee (South of Hwy 41 on Hwy 169.  
Payouts:  $150.00 inChaska Bucks for 1st and $100.00 Chaska Bucks for 2nd Place.

  Thanksgiving doesn’t have to come just once a year. Help us help others year-round.
Many thanks to five local businesses who are coordinating a food and non-perishable collection for Bountiful Basket Food Shelf and Love INC. Boyer Construction, CenturyLink, KleinBank, The Mustard Seed and Park Nicollet have kindly offered their business locations (below) as collection points for goods and monetary donations to Bountiful Basket and Love INC.

Items can be dropped off at participating business locations:

Bins and boxes will be setup at each of the above locations for item drop-offs during the week of July 19. Larger items can be dropped off at the River City Days information booth during the festival Saturday July 24 or Sunday July 25.
Monetary donations will also be accepted. Money collected can be used to purchase food through the state food bank; each dollar donated can be leveraged to purchase $9 in food. The event committee, Bountiful Basket and Love INC would like to thank (in advance) all participants/donors for their generosity.

MEDALLION HUNT -   First clues will be posted on Saturday, July 18.  The clues will be posted on this website at 2PM.  Clues will also be posted at the Chaska Community Center, the Chaska Historical Society, Chaska Cable 15 and the Kiosk at City Square Park at approximately 2 PM daily.  Win $100.00 in Chaska Bucks!

RCD PHOTO CONTEST - Got a great photo?  Submit your favorite in this contest.  Categories are "People, Pets, and Places, also a under 18 category.  Sponsored by Rita Vannett Photography and Party Crashers Photography.  Photos will be displayed at the Chaska Moravian Church adjacent to the City Square Park.  Entry forms may be picked up at the Party Crashers or Rita Vannett Photography or you can download your entry form by clicking photo contest.

BREAKFAST IN CITY SQUARE PARK & CHRISTIAN PRAISE FESTIVAL 
Sunday 9:30am to 1:00pm at City Square Park (Tent at Walnut St).  Breakfast will be served.  $6 for adults, $3 for children.  Christian Praise Festival music will be provided by groups from 6 churches in Eastern Carver County.  Proceeds to benefit Love INC of Eastern Carver County.  Love INC provides a means for the churches and other organizations such as CAP, Carver County, PROP and others of our community to work together to serve those among us who are needy or in crisis situations.   

RCD CITY PARADE - downtown Chaska on Sunday at 1:00.  Sponsored by the Chaska Area Jaycees.  Inviting all businesses, service organization, school groups, neighborhood groups, antique cars, trucks, machinery, etc. to participate. CHASKA HISTORICAL SOCIETY -This years exhibit:  "Uniforms on Parade: All Decked Out in Chaska's History."  March through Chaska History and see the Honor Guard, the Police and Fireman, the Servicemen and the Drum and Bugle Corps!  It's Chaska's own stationary parade!  Follow the route through the History Center's display of uniforms highlighting not only parade uniforms, but also the uniforms of champions.  Baseball, softball, and high school bands- all reflect Chaska's past.  It's a parade you won't want to miss!   For more information about the Chaska Historical Society go to www.chaskahistory.org

FAMILY BEACH BASH 2010-  On Friday enjoy an afternoon of fun at the Chaska Clayhole Beach/Firemans Park. Free admission. There will be games for all ages including water relays, scavenger hunt, and a variety of group activities.  Prizes and treats for everyone.  Questions, call 448-5633 ext 7746.  In case of inclement weather, all beach activities will be cancelled.  Sponsored by the Chaska Park and Recreation Department.

ART IN THE PARK CRAFT FAIR - Offering a wide variety of hand crafted items and art in the park in the City Square Park on  Friday 4pm-Dusk.  Saturday 10am-Dusk    

PICNIC IN THE PARK -  On Friday, 5:30-7:30pm.  Serving brats or hot dogs, beans, coleslaw, and chips.    Co-sponsored by Coopers County Market,  Edina Realty,Coldwell Banker Burnet Realty, and RE/MAX Action West. Free watermelon until it's gone-donated by Coopers County Market.  

PIE AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL - Serving pie and/or ice cream sundaes, Friday 4-8:30pm and Sat. 11am-8:30pm at the Chaska Moravian Church across from the City Square Park.  The sanctuary will be open for prayer and meditation.  Also, stop in and view the photo entries to the RCD Photo Contest. 

SENIOR CITIZEN BREAKFAST  - Saturday from 7:30 am-9:30am at the St. John Lutheran Church   KleinBank Chaska, home of the Out and About Club, will serve up a delicious complimentary breakfast.  Sponsored by KleinBank in Chaska. 

BUSINESS AND HEALTH EXPO - Sponsored by the SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce.  Your opportunity to visit local businesses to view their products and services.  Area health facilities will be providing health related screenings.  Saturday 10am-3pm under the big tent on Walnut St

"WALK THE SIDEWALK SALE" - Take a break from the activities and stroll about the downtown for old-fashioned bargains and special offers inside and out.  Enter to win door prizes at each shop.  You could win a  GRAND PRIZE SHOPPING SPREE!  Stop at the RCD Booth for list of participating businesses and map.

CARVER-SCOTT HUMANE SOCIETY BAKE SALE - Friday 4:00 - 8:00pm and Saturday 10:00 - 8:00pm in the park.  Baked goods and animal related items.  All proceeds benefit the homeless, stray and abandoned animals in our foster-home based program.   

CHILDRENS FISHING CONTEST - Saturday at Clay hole Beach at Firemans Park. Registration is from 10:15 - 10:45am.  Contest starts at 10:45 and ends at 11:30am.  Bring your own poles and hooks- bait will be provided.  Parent supervision is required.  Prizes will be awarded for the first fish caught and the three largest fish caught.  There will be other drawings as well.  Sponsored by KleinBank of Chaska, home of the Klein Kids Club.  

KIDS/YOUTH PARADE - Decorate your bike, buggy or wagon and parade the sidewalks of City Square Center on Saturday at 12:15.  Line up in front of Moravian Church on 4th St. at 12:00 noon.  Sponsored by the Chaska Music Studios, Kindermusik of Chaska and The Preschool Place.  All Prizes are donated by the Chaska Music Studio, Kindermusik of Chaska, and the Preschool Place.  Participating children in the parade have a chance of a prize drawing.  Each participant will receive a balloon donated by Westwood Church.  

FIRE DEPARTMENT WATER FIGHTS - Saturday at 1pm.  Area fire fighters will battle for the River City Days Title.  This wet and wild exhibition is organized by the Chaska Fire Department.  

FRIENDS OF CHASKA COMMUNITY LIBRARY USED BOOK SALE - Used book sale will be held at the City Hall Plaza on Thursday from 3pm to 8pm
 NOTE:  The Minnesota Percussion Trio 'Click, Clack, Clunk" will be performing at the Chaska Library on Thursdays, July 22 at 6:30pm.
Friday from 9am-8pm, and Saturday from 9am-3pm.  Proceeds are used to enhance the Chaska Library and educational programming.

STEP BY STEP MONTESORRI PRE-SCHOOL SINGERS -Enjoy the little voices of these talented young children.

NATIONAL KARATE SCHOOL - American Hard style Tae Kwon Do.  Students ages 4-64 will demonstrate discipline and power whole showing friends and family their fun new moves. 

RIVER CITY MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY - Presenting Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and other martial arts and weapons forms.  Performance by our demonstration team and students of other varied styles. 

MARTIAL ARTS AMERICA - The family club will be demonstrating many facets of the martial arts, including: Tae Kwon Do (Korean Karate), Jujitsu (a throwing/wrestling art), and Eskrima (Philippino stick fighting). 

ATA AMERICAN -  (American Tae Kwon Do) Students will demonstrate hand and foot techniques while emphasizing control, focus and confidence skills.  Special demonstration
"Child Safety Demo"

CHASKA ROTARY STEAK AND CHICKEN FRY - Prepared and served by the Chaska Rotary Club.  Serving a choice of Ribeye Steak or Chicken Breast, with corn on the cob, potato salad and trimmings.  Adults $ TBD, Kids 12 and under $ TBD.   Saturday 5-8pm - City Square Park  

RIVER CITY RUN/Walk - 5 K RUN OR 2 Mile Fun Walk - Saturday.  Race/Walk starts at 7:30; Registration at 6:30am.  5 K course will start and end at or near the City Square Center. Trophies and Medals awarded.  Proceeds to Southern Valley for Battered Women l charity.  Pre-registration is recommended, but also can register on race day.  See FUN RUN menu on our website for additional information or stop by any Chaska area chiropractic office for registration forms.   

COUPLES GOLF SCRAMBLE - A golf scramble will be held at the Chaska Par 30 on Sunday, July 25th, 7am-4pm.  Green fees are $13.00 per person. (Pull cart included in fee).  Each team will consist of one man and one woman who play the best of their two shots throughout the round, with 1st and 2nd place trophies awarded.  Register the day of the event at Par 30 or book your tee time at www.chaskapar30.com.  Sponsored by the City of Chaska, for more information call the Par 30 at 952-448-7454.
