“The Shaw Brothers” Welcome to the party! 2014 marks the 2nd year appearance at the Chaska River City Days. The Shaw Brothers are a premier midwest band that has been performing for over 17 years in central Minnesota and the Twin Cities area. They play a wide variety of music that you will enjoy. “Maiden Dixie”Band – Energetic. Passionate. Exuberant. One would be hard-pressed to find a band that more embodies these qualities than Maiden Dixie. Breaking onto the music scene in the fall of 2011, this country rock septet has been gaining unchecked momentum ever since. They’ve played every A-list club in MN, opened for several national acts, and are well suited for the bigger outdoor stages at fairs or festivals. Whether composing, recording or performing live, these seven musicians combine their talents, experience, and love of music to form a true bond with their audience. Having been assembled from all corners of the United States, the personal experiences and musical influences of these performers run deep and wide. Comprised of two combat veterans of the Iraq War, six music/composition majors and even a division one basketball player, Maiden Dixie is an eclectic mix of interesting characters. Each member’s life story has followed a unique path that has ultimately led toward the creation of this country rock ensemble. With an inimitable blending of the country, rock, blues and folk genres, Maiden Dixie guarantees an exciting and enthusiastic live performance that is sure to get the audience up on their feet dancing. “Flying Sideways”- Flying Sideways music includes cover tunes from mainline and Christian rock industries with the flare of special effects lighting backed up by big screen image and video projections. Sponsored by the Meadow Spring Church. Concert will be performed at the Meadow Spring Church (formerly Chaska Rex Theatre)
MN Valley Community Band Concert goers can expect to hear music of stage and screen, as well as the “Star and Stripes Forever.” This band is made up of 40 plus dedicated members from Chaska and the surrounding communities who enjoy playing for the public. Bring your favorite lawn chair or picnic blanket and enjoy Chaska’s version of the ‘Boston Pops!’ Barry Fox-Director. Sponsored by the Chaska Park and Rec Dept.
SOUNDCHECK - Located in Chaska, SOUNDCHECK is a performance based music school with a focus on all genres of music. Under the direction of Max Nelson, a National performer/recording artist, his students will be performing at the City Square Plaza (City Hall/Library) on Saturday evening. Come a enjoy the wonderful talent of our young people!

Chaska Middle School- Jazz Ensemble, Garage Band, Movie Band, Stomp, and Country Bluegrass Bands. Come a listen to a group of dedicated students who wish to entertain you. Under the direction of Eric Songer and co-director Heidi Songer.
“Meladika”- Meladika began as a small music group for a school contest. Since then we have grown immensely and have started a campaign to help others. We play at small venues to raise money for students in third world countries to receive music education. 98% of our profits go to our charity. Music is a large part of our culture no matter where you are from, who you are, or how you look at it. Some countries are more engaged in the arts than other, as well as other areas of interest. Our overall goal is to help those who don’t have the privilege of music education. Enjoy our perfomance at RCD!

Chaska’s Got Talent Show 2014-RCD style! Got Talent? ..Sure you do. Can you sing, dance, play an instrument, wild bird calls, magic tricks, stand on your thumbs? ..You got the idea..So let’s have some fun! Sign up and possibly win prizes! Application forms available in the ‘Chaska Got Talent’ Tab. Sunday at 2 pm after the Chaska Area Jaycees Parade. The famous (at least in his own mind) Mr. Bob DeMaris will MC this event. Mr. DeMaris has entertained on the comedy stages around the country. Free refreshments will be provided.
MEDALLION HUNT- The first clue will be posted on Saturday, July 20. The next one starts Monday-Saturday. The following clues will be posted on this web site, www.chaskarivercitydays.com . See the medallion hunt on the events page. Clues will also be posted at the Chaska Community Center, the Chaska Historical Society and on the Kiosk located on 4th and Walnut street at 2pm until the medallion is found. Winner receives $100.00 in Chaska Bucks. This event sponsored by U-Can-Tan Tanning and the RCD committee.
ARTS CONSORTIUM ARTS FESTIVAL The Arts Consortium of Carver County (ACCC) will showcase the talent and diversity of artists in Carver County. The Show is open to ACCC members . RIVER CITY 5 K FUN RUN FOR CHARITY
Saturday, July 26. Race registration and check in starts at 7:00 am. 5K race at 8:00am.
5 K course will start and end at or near the City Square Center. Trophies and Medals awarded. Proceeds to benefit the Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women. COUPLES GOLF SCRAMBLE – A golf scramble will be held at the Chaska Par 30 on Sunday, July 27, 7am-4pm. Green fees are $12.00 per person. (Pull cart included in fee). NOTE: Play as a foursome and save money! Each team will consist of one man and one woman who play the best of their two shots throughout the round, with 1st and 2nd place trophies awarded. CHASKA HISTORICAL SOCIETY – 112 West 4th St. Chaska. This year’s display is a visual version of ChaskAlphabet, our A to Z book of Chaska History. Highlights include Jesse James-era items and run-stop engines. A great vatriety of Chaska history-perfect for introducing your kids or grandkids to the breadth of Chaska history! Copies of the ChaskAlphabet: A Brief Introduction to Chaska’s History will be available for a donation of only $20.00. FAMILY BEACH BASH 2014- On Friday enjoy an afternoon of fun at the Chaska Clayhole Beach/Firemans Park. Admission to the beach is $1 on Friday, July 25. FREE SLICED WATERMELON - Mr. Gary Cooper of Cooper’s Food Market has generously donated the watermelon and he will cut and serve you a slice of the tasty fruit on Friday from 5pm until it’s gone!
CASH BINGO GAMES - 2013 was our first year of Bingo at RCD and was a huge success. This year St. Nicholas of Carver will be hosting the BINGO games.

FIRE DEPARTMENT WATER FIGHTS – Saturday at 1pm. Area fire fighters will battle for the River City Days Title. This wet and wild exhibition is organized by the Chaska Fire Department.
FRIENDS OF CHASKA COMMUNITY LIBRARY USED BOOK SALE – Used book sale will be held at the City Hall Plaza on Thursday from 3pm to 8pm Friday from 9am-8pm, and Saturday from 9am-3pm. Proceeds are used to enhance the Chaska Library and educational programming.

CHASKA SCHOOL OF DANCE - Presenting a variety of dance routines on our performances on Friday. Join in on Chaska’s community flash mob dance for all ages to the music of “Party Rock Anthem.” We also plan to honor our veterans during our performance.

STEP BY STEP MONTESSORI PRE-SCHOOL SINGERS -Enjoy the little voices of these talented young children.
NATIONAL KARATE SCHOOL – American Hard style Tae Kwon Do. Students ages 4-64 will demonstrate discipline and power whole showing friends and family their fun new moves.
RIVER CITY MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY – Presenting Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and other martial arts and weapons forms. Performance by our demonstration team and students of other varied styles.
ATA AMERICAN – (American Tae Kwon Do) Students will demonstrate hand and foot techniques while emphasizing control, focus and confidence skills.
JSAW SKATEBOARDING DEMO -Our team has performed for thousands, touring with organizations like the Billy Graham Association, Lois Palau and more! We are involved in many events, large and small and can connect you with multiple action sports pros and teams throughout the U.S. JSAW has inspiring speakers, talented riders, mobile parks, ramp builders, coaches, rental gear, and yes we have insurance for it all too! Noah Metzger, JSAW Events Coordinator will be available to answer your questions about hiring the JSAW team , a speaker, pro rider or getting our mobile park for your event.
